Wood Carving
Here are photos of some of the wood carvings / pyrography that I have done.

Unique Hygrometer
Based on Charles Rittenhouse's hygrometer, I used some found wood to make my own. The whale is from a walnut slab. I carved the crew out of basswood and the boat out of butternut. 12 ga. copper wire was used to fashion the harpoon, oars, and rudder. The wood strip that forms the hygrometer is made from red oak. I cut two thin pieces, one along the grain and one across the grain. I then glued them together and anchored the strip in to a walnut dowel. As the moisture in the air changes it causes the strip to flex one way or another depending on whether the moisture is either < or >.

Weedpot
This unique weedpot is carved from black locust. The flower and chipmunk were carved out of basswood.

Northern Oriole & Dogwood Branch
The bird and dogwood was relief carved from a basswood panel and framed with wormy butternut. Painting was done with watercolors.

Walkingstick
My favorite walking stick. I made this stick from a dead wild apple branch I found in my woods.

Walking Stick
Here is a close-up of the carving that I did on the apple walking stick. He is a wizard. His name is Sandor and was brought forth to protect the gullible.
