Quilting

Longarm Quilting

What the heck is a Quilting page doing on a woodworking site you might ask?

Well, I’m interested in things that are artsy, so what is more artsy than decorative stitching?

I have a strong interest in making art quilts and my wife enjoys make traditional ones, so we felt that both of us could get plenty of use from having our own longarm machine.

Since getting our Gammill Classic plus, I purchased a Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen sit down model for working on smaller quilts and doing thread painting with.

I recently started using fabric paints to enhance my work  and this has opened up a whole new area of art for me to explore.

Check out my photo album below to see some of my work.

Here is a thread painting that I am quilting. I took a class on thread painting from ~ Anne Fischer ~ ( www.annemfischer.com ) at Carriage House Quilt Shop, Naples, NY
( www.carriagehousequiltshop.com ) and this is my rendition of her design that she taught.

Rose 4 Patch Quilt

Rose 4 Patch Quilt

I bought this top off of e-bay, I used a panto for the quilting in the center of the top. I then SID and did bead-board on the green inner border. The outer border I did swages.

I quilted the center with a panto called Tea Rose.

I held the quilt up to the window so the sunshine would show the Tea Rose panto pattern.

New Toy

New Toy

I recently purchased a Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen sit down machine to do thread painting on. I had been using a Bernina 440 but found the available space limiting. Now I have 16" of throat space to do my thing with.
